What is air bonding?

Air bonding, also known as frame bonding, is a method of attaching a cover glass (CG) or touch panel (TP) to an LCD display module (LCM) using a frame or bezel.

It is a simpler and more cost-effective method compared to optical bonding.

This method is suitable for applications that do not require high levels of durability or resistance to harsh environmental conditions.

It is commonly used in indoor applications such as kiosks, point-of-sale terminals, and gaming machines.

The advantage of air bonding

◎ More Cost-effective

◆ It is often more cost-effective than other remediation techniques, such as excavation or chemical treatment.

◆ It does not require the excavation of contaminated soil or the installation of treatment systems.

◎ Relatively quick process

◎ It is a relatively quick process that can be completed in a matter of weeks or months, depending on the extent of contamination.

Air bonding vs. Optical bonding: more light refraction, serious consumption

The optical bonding structure is more complex than air bonding, but it provides greater durability and sunlight readability.

The optically clear adhesive eliminates the air gap between the cover glass or touch panel and the display module, which reduces reflections and increases contrast.

However, optical bonding is generally more expensive than air bonding due to the specialized equipment and additional manufacturing steps required.

The choice between these two methods depends on several factors, including the application, environmental conditions, and budget.
